Teenage girls surrounded, kicked and punched man in fatal attack filmed on phone in London, court hears

Three teenage girls surrounded a 75-year-old man before he was pushed, shoved, kicked and punched, and then died in hospital the following a day, a court heard.

Fredi Rivero, thought to be a Bolivian national, was on Seven Sisters Road in Islington, north London, when he was attacked at around 11.35pm on Thursday.

The incident was recorded by one of the defendants on her phone, Highbury Corner Youth Court heard.

The three teenage girls aged 14, 16 and 17 - who cannot be named because of their age - were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm before the man's death.

They have now been charged with manslaughter and appeared in court today.

The victim was near a bus stop when the defendants got off and surrounded him, the court heard.

They walked away but later returned, and Mr Rivero was then pushed, shoved, kicked and punched, the court heard.

He was treated by police officers and paramedics at the scene but died in hospital the following day.

The teenagers were remanded into youth detention accommodation and told they will appear at the Old Bailey on 31 March.
