Dudley Zoo Celebrates 80 Years

Dudley Zoo will be celebrating on Saturday as the attraction turns 80 years young!

Bosses say there’s still time to sign up for 'Take a Walk on the Wild Side', a 5 kilometre walk around the zoo site, past some of the rarest animals in the world, in aid of the £800,000 appeal to build a new separate outdoor enclosure for our critically endangered Bornean orangutans. Marketing Manager, Andrea Hales, said:

“We’re encouraging all participants to get into the spirit of the occasion and don 1930’s clothing or fancy dress and join us as we go ape for our orangutans.

“We’ve got lots to celebrate and we hope lots of our supporters will join us for what promises to be a great day!”

Following the walk, staff and the public are invited to celebrate in the castle courtyard where vocal harmony group, The Glamophones, will be entertaining visitors with a retro performance - and there’ll be birthday cake for everybody too!

To sign up for the fundraiser call 01384 215313 or visit the Dudley Zoo website. Registration costs costs £6 per adult and £3 per child (3-15 years) which includes zoo admission. Up to four spectators per participant will be admitted at a discounted rate of £7 per person, which need to be purchased prior to the date.

Anyone who can’t make the anniversary celebrations, but who wishes to donate to the appeal, can do so by text message. Send 'DZ0037' followed by the desired donation to 70070.
