Zoo Appeals for Houseplants

Dudley Zoo are appealing for unwanted house plants to be used in the Reptile House and other indoor enclosures.

Keepers are on the lookout for all kinds of potted greenery, with Section Leader Jay Haywood, saying:

“We’re looking for unwanted houseplants of all shapes and sizes to brighten up some of our animal enclosures.

“Whether they’ve grown too big, or you fancy a clear out, then please think of us and we'll sort them and distribute them accordingly around the site."

Donations can be dropped off at the main zoo entrance inside the Safari Gift Shop where the Customer Services Team will happily take them off your hands.

Bosses are also still on the hunt for bamboo roots to increase the supply of the tasty treat for many species on site, including red pandas, giraffes and chimpanzees.
