Young people in Dudley are being invited to represent their region in the UK Youth Parliament.

Anyone aged 11 to 18 who lives in Dudley borough can put themselves forward before Friday 2 December at dudley.gov.uk/youthservice. Two representatives will then be selected through a balloted vote from more than 6,500 young people in schools, sixth forms and colleges

Once elected as members of the UK Youth Parliament, they will be tasked with representing Dudley at a regional and national level. This can involve meeting with MPs, councillors and other decision-makers, organising events, running campaigns, making speeches and ensuring the views of Dudley’s young people are listened to.

They will meet with other young peoplefrom across the country at five events over the coming year, including a live televised debate at the House of Commons and regional meetings in Birmingham to discuss issues that are important to young people in Dudley borough. Councillor Ian Cooper, cabinet member for children’s services, said:

“There is a proud history of UK Youth Parliament in Dudley. We have had some outstanding young representatives over the years and I would encourage more young people to come forward and get involved this year.”
