Bosses at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre have taken the decision to cancel the forthcoming appearance of The Russian State Ballet, which was due to perform from Monday 28 February to Wednesday 2 March.
Discussions and consultations between management, producers, and agents have been ongoing since last Thursday. A spokesperson for the venue said:
"The decision to cancel is absolutely the right thing to do given the circumstances, however this will have a significant financial impact on the theatre which is still in recovery following the closure forced by the Covid-19 pandemic."
The theatre is a charity which acts both as a receiving venue for major national tours or musicals and plays, as well as hosting a varied program of one-night and concert performances. They also have arms which work extensively within the community.
All customers who have purchased tickets for the ballet will receive a full refund. Patrons are asked to avoid contacting the theatre directly and are assured that they will receive a direct communication within the next fourteen days.
