World renowned artist, Richard Billingham will present his new short film 'Ray', followed by a Q&A along side Dee Kelly, in support of Bilingham's first feature film.
'Ray & Liz' is Turner-prize nominated Billingham’s first feature film and in the event, which will be held at Birmingham's Electric Cinema, attendees will have the chance to quiz Billingham and Kelly, who plays his mother in the upcoming release, alongside producer Jacqui Davies.
The film see's Richard returning to the striking photographs that he captured of his family during Thatcher-era Britain to tell a universal story of everyday conflicts, loneliness, love and loss.
Shot on location in the Black Country, Ray is a beautiful, atmospheric and emotional film about addiction and control. Alcohol makes Ray a prisoner in his own bedroom. Liz arrives periodically, for money. Sid and Liz battle for control of Ray, Sid with alcohol and Liz with the lure of being reunited.
This event is held to support a Kickstarter campaign for Ray & Liz. To find out more about the film and support the campaign, the Q&A session will be held on March 11th at 7.30, tickets are available here.
