Members of the public are invited to join club as it hosts its annual open day on Saturday May 18 with free fun tennis sessions to give children and adults an opportunity to sample the game.
Sessions will be held from 10:00am (for children aged between 4 years and 9 years), 11:00am (aged 10 years to 17 years) and from noon for adults. Places must be booked in advance at lta.org.uk/tennisweekends.
The club will also have special offers for anyone new signing up to join the club on the day, with offers including 50% off a year's membership for juniors and adults and a free group lesson. As an added incentive to get new families playing tennis together, adults will get an extra £10 off the already reduced membership rate plus free junior membership for one child, when they join together. Offers will only be available to new members on the open day.
The club offers coaching sessions all year round and is currently promoting the LTA's 'Tennis For Kids' programme which includes six sessions of coaching, a new racket and balls and a personalised t-shirt. Further details are available at tennisforkids.co.uk. Adrian Hyde, club chairman, said:
"We see ourselves as very much a community club and our aim is to get as many people being active and playing tennis as possible. We want people to come and have fun, get fit and learn a new skill.
"Despite being a small club, we do compete regionally and our men's A team was recently promoted as champions back to the top of the Hereford and Worcester Leagues. We're really proud of this achievement and being able to compete at a top level with much larger clubs.
"Of course, we don't expect everyone to want to compete regionally, we just want people to come and have a go. Our open day and the free sessions are a great way for everyone to do just that and we hope to see many new faces there."
The open day is one of many being organised across the country as part of the LTA Tennis for Britain's Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekends.
