Olly Wilkes Memorial Tournament to support knife crime campaign

The event will take place at Thorns Collegiate Academy

This year's tournament is supporting the Justice for Ryan campaign and is seeking people to support the cause and raise awareness of knife crime.

22-year-old Olly Wilkes took his own life unexpectedly in 2017. The passionate football player had grown up playing for Withymoor Colts and his death has led to family, friends and the community of Withymoor developing a memorial football tournament in his name.

Last year's tournament was a massive success, raising money for worthy causes, Olly's family, Withymoor Colts and many other family and friends, allowing them to celebrate Olly’s life and love of “the beautiful game”.

This year, the tournament will support the 'Justice for Ryan' campaign, raising awareness of tackling the devastation of knife crime. Ryan Passey lost his life within 6 months of Olly and, whilst the circumstances may be different, the devastation has brought the families together.

The event will take place on Saturday 22 June 2019 at Thorns Collegiate Academy, alongside the Withymoor Colts mini tournament.

The tournament is also looking for the support of the local community, including any raffle or tombola prizes, or teams of under 7's, 8's and 9's to take part in the mini tournaments.
