Sycamore Adventure targeted for second time in a week

The team at Sycamore Adventure playground have been left disheartened after being targeted by burglars for the second time in a week on Monday evening.

After falling victim last week, when intruders broke into a storage area and damaged infrastructure and go-karts, staff arrived for work yesterday morning to find the site in a state of disarray.

This time they gained access to the building through the cafe window, however the intruder alarm went off and residents kept an eye on the centre and notified the police, who responded quickly.

They also gained access to the outdoor area which had been temporarily repaired after the previous break in, whilst the team await materials to make it fully secure. They also tried to set fire to a lawn mower. A spokesperson for the centre said:

"This is just heart-breaking for staff, volunteers and the people that use our facilities, especially for it to happen 2 weeks in a row.

"Sycamore is more than just a job to everyone who works there - it takes a piece of your heart.

"Please stand strong with us while we recover from this and come and visit us for the remainder of the holidays and enjoy what we are all about which is advocating outdoor play for children."

Offers of support can be sent through their GoFundMe page at gofund.me/db45f414 or by contacting the centre directly through their Facebook page.
