Officers seized a knife and firearm after being called to reports of youths pretending to shoot each other and scaring bus passengers.
They were called to Wolverhampton bus station in Pipers Row, following public concerns, at around 5.20pm on Sunday evening.
A BB gun - which looked like realistic firearm - was retrieved from Pipers Row and a lock knife in nearby Albion Street. A spokesperson said:
“A 12-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and a 14-year-old on suspicion of possessing a bladed article. They have both been released under investigation.
“BB guns can look very similar to a viable firearm and can cause great concern and a knife can be a deadly weapon.
“We’re working with our partners to educate people around the dangers. You can read more about our Live Or Knife campaign at west-midlands.police.uk.
