Dudley Council’s Children’s Services has been commended for its continued progress in a recent Ofsted report, following a focused visit by the government department last month.
The visit, which took place in October, focused on the council’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and Early Help services - the main point of contact for vulnerable children and families.
Over three days, inspectors met with social workers and other members of the children’s services team to review the support provided to children, young people, and families. The inspection looked closely at how the service undertakes assessments and delivers wider services for children in need of care and support.
Following the visit, the new report recognises the council for investing in children’s services and highlights a positive and supportive work environment for the teams.
OFSTED also commended the council’s early help service, recognising that many children and families receive support before hitting any crisis points.
Councillor Wayne Little, cabinet member for children and young people said: “The incredible dedication and hard work of our officers has been recognised in this report, and I must thank our teams for all they continue to do for families in Dudley borough.
“Ofsted has recognised the strong, cross-party, political and corporate support that we have built for our children’s services, as well as our ongoing ambition to improve and develop the service further.
“Although we are delighted at this outcome, we recognise that there is still more to do, and we will continue to work tirelessly to provide the best possible services for children, young people and families.”
