Residents have welcomed work from Dudley Council to make road safety improvements in the Norton area of Stourbridge.
A new zebra crossing has been installed on South Road between South Avenue and Norton Road outside the Old White Horse pub.
This scheme, which has been delivered as part of Dudley Council’s ongoing pedestrian facilities programme has cost £28,000.
The work follows requests from the public, who felt they were struggling to cross safely at peak times of the day.
Councillor Damian Corfield, cabinet member for highways and environment, said: “Dudley Council was contacted by residents who wanted us to make it safer for people to cross the road in this area, which can get busy at certain times of the day.
“We carried out an initial assessment of the site including traffic and pedestrian surveys and found that there was sufficient demand for a formal crossing facility.
“I’m pleased to see this new zebra crossing in place as it will help to improve pedestrian access to local shops, schools and the local park.”
