Mayor visits growing timber firm

The Mayor of Dudley visited a local timber firm earlier this week to find out how the Brierley Hill based company is looking to branch out.

Nordic Timber Buildings is sponsoring the Duncan Edwards award for sport in the Mayor’s annual civic awards for the second year running. The Mayor, Councillor Dave Tyler, stopped by to thank them for their support and to find out more about the company, which manufactures and supplies timber buildings nationwide.

The company has been up and running since August 2015 and specialises in the design, build and installation of sheds, workshops, summerhouses and log stores. Councillor Dave Tyler, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“I’m really pleased we’ve got Nordic Timber on board as a sponsor for this year’s civic awards. We all depend on the success of local businesses; it’s what helps the local economy to strive through jobs, investment and growth.

“Although this is business still in its infancy, it is clear there is a drive to succeed but with a commitment to support the local community.”

The firm, which is headed up by David Richards who has vast experience in the timber trade, is ambitious about plans for the future. David added:

“We’re continually looking at ways to grow our business and broaden our product base, with a range of new items being developed as we speak. Although we have a small workforce, we have big hearts and our company ethos is very much about supporting the local community and this is why we are delighted to once again sponsor a civic award.

“We believe it’s only right that local people who go the extra mile to make a difference in the local community should be recognised for their achievements. We would like to thank the Mayor for taking time out of his busy schedule to come and visit us today.”

Since taking up office the Mayor of Dudley has visited on average 10 businesses a month, recently visiting his 100th business. He has visited butchers, barbers, manufacturers, car showrooms and many more.

The Mayor’s ball and civic awards will take place at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill on April 20. For further details go to mayorofdudley.org.uk.
