The Mayor of Dudley bid hello to the team at Fieldings Auctioneers as part of a series of Mayoral Business Club visits.
Director of the company and 20th Century Design and Glass Specialist Will Farmer met the mayor and showed her around the auction house ahead of auction day.
The mayor viewed paintings, glassware, furniture, art and pottery with a colourful collection of Clarice Cliff catching her eye and learnt about the bidding process and the behind the scenes work needed to keep everything running smoothly. The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Anne Millward, said:
"It was absolutely fascinating to look at the range of art and antiques on display. There were so many beautiful pieces, I imagine bidders will be spoilt for choice.
"I was particularly taken with the stunning range of Clarice Cliff ceramics and vintage suitcases and was tempted to put in a bid myself!
"I'd like to thank Will and the team at Fieldings for making me feel so welcome and for supporting the Mayoral Business Club which helps us to deliver community events across the borough for all our residents.
Will Farmer, Director at Fieldings Auctioneers, said: "It was a pleasure to host the Mayor at the preview of one of our most iconic sales of the year.
"Our Decades of Design sale attracts bidders from all over the world and to have the support of the Mayor is a real honour. Walking round the saleroom with the Mayor it became clear that she had great knowledge about many of the items on display from Clarice Cliff through to vintage Louis Vuitton.
"The sale promises to draw the attention of a global audience to our borough and goes to prove we can offer a world class service from here in the heart of Stourbridge."
Fieldings is one of the businesses which makes up this year’s Mayoral Business Club, a unique business initiative that gives members access to a series of exclusive networking events with key decision makers in the borough, VIP experiences, and high-profile branding opportunities.
