The Mayor of Dudley overcame the jitters to abseil from the top of a 60-foot Dudley College rooftop as part of a day long charity event.
Staff and students at the college have been running the event for several years.
Each year has a nominated charity, although people can also fundraise for their own charities too. Participants abseil from the top of the Evolve college building into Coronation Gardens.
The event took place on Friday and the Mayor took the plunge on behalf of his five chosen charities.
They are Alzheimer’s Society, Disability in Action Dudley, Guide Dogs UK, The Gurkha Welfare Trust and The Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund, supporting the Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital.
He was joined on the day by fellow councillors Keiran Casey and Matt Cook.
Councillor Pete Lee, the Mayor of Dudley, said: “It has become somewhat of a tradition for the new mayor to take part in this event.
“It looked a lot higher up from the top than it did down below and was massively nerve wracking. I’m not sure I would like to do it again!
“I’m pleased I did it though, and it was great to see so many of our young people joining in and raising money for charity.”
