Man charged after Netherton collision

Police in Dudley have charged a suspected drink driver with causing death by dangerous driving after a pensioner died following a hit-and-run in Netherton.

Reece Dunkley will appear in court following the death of 83-year-old Stanley Shelton, who was hit by a car at a bus stop in Simms Lane, Netherton, on Saturday morning.

Mr Shelton suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dunkley, aged 28, of Kilburn Place, Netherton, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving, being at the wheel while disqualified, and drink driving. He is also charged with failing to stop and report a collision and having no insurance.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.
