Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after stabbing in Himley

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing incident in Himley on Sunday.

A 30-year-old woman and her eight-year-old son were taken to Sandwell Hospital for treatment after the incident in Dudley Road but their injuries are not life threatening.

The man who was arrested was today in custody pending further investigation - while the woman and boy were being supported by specialist officers. Detective Inspector Alan Lyford, of Staffordshire Police, said:

"I would like to reassure the public that this was not a random attack."

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on the 101 number, quoting incident number 798 of 16 July.
