Man armed with knives avoids jail sentence

A Dudley man who was caught with three knives in a public place has been handed a suspended sentence.

40 year-old Mahesh Don Weerathunga, of Holly Road, was sentenced to 14 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months, for possessing a kitchen, carving and butter knife in Dudley on October 21. 

He was also sentenced for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £185 court costs.
