Dudley MP, Ian Austin, has organised a jobs fayre to encourage local people to find out about jobs at the town's new Aldi store.
Local residents are invited to discuss job opportunities, and pose any questions about the new store, with Aldi bosses at 11am on Saturday 25th June at Priory Primary School on Limes Road.
The new branch will open later this year on the site of the former King Arthur public house, at the junction of Priory Road and the Birmingham New Road. It's set to employ 35 new members of staff and six deputy managers.
A consultation with local residents last year found that eight in ten were in support of the new store, with 87 percent saying it would help tackle unemployment in the area.
Mr Austin has organised the jobs fayre, and written to local residents encouraging them to come, so that as many jobs as possible are filled by local people. Ian said:
“One of the reasons local people supported Aldi’s plan for a new supermarket was because it would create over forty new jobs in an area of high unemployment.
“I want local people to get those jobs so I have organised this jobs fayre and written to everyone living locally encouraging them to apply.
“I would like to thank Aldi, local councillors Ken Finch, Margaret Aston and Alan Finch who have backed these plans to benefit local residents.”
