Residents encouraged to fly the Black Country flag with pride

People are being urged to fly their flags with pride this week as the countdown begins to the 10th anniversary of Black Country Day.

The Mayor of Dudley is appealing to people to make this year’s celebrations the “biggest and best ever” following a difficult two years through the pandemic.

The Black Country Festival runs throughout July and includes Black Country Day on July 14 - where the 10th anniversary event will take place in Halesowen town centre.

Dudley Council will be flying the official Black Country Flag from the Council House and Town Hall in Dudley on the day. Councillor Sue Greenaway, Mayor of Dudley, said:

"It has been a tough couple of years so we owe it to each other to make this year’s celebrations the biggest and best ever, on the 10th anniversary. We will be flying the official flag with pride from council buildings and I urge people to do the same.

"Whether from their shops, homes and other buildings right across the borough, we are the historic capital of the Black Country – lets show that pride throughout the festival."
