The chairman of the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority says plans for a light rail system in Dudley could be in jeopardy if Britain leaves the EU.
Roger Lawrence says the £28 million project, which would re-open the former station at Castle Hill, could be axed if European funding is no longer accessible.
He said the current expansion plans for the Midland Metro would be unaffected, but said transport projects were heavily reliant on ‘EU money’.
Half of the money required to build the scheme, which could open by 2021, is set to come from the European Regional Development Fund.
