A Dudley teenager’s been jailed for four years after fracturing a schoolboy's skull with a rounders bat, because he drew a cartoon he felt insulted his religion.
Wolverhampton Crown Court was told the 16-year-old Muslim, who can’t be named for legal reasons, regarded himself as "some kind of local hero" and struck out in revenge.
The incident, in Stony Lane Netherton, left the victim, also 16, with swelling on the brain and he spent six days in hospital.
The defendant, from the Kates Hill area, denied causing grievous bodily harm but was convicted after a trial. He also admitted two charges of robbery and two of possessing an offensive weapon.
