Dudley Mayor looking for borough heroes

The Mayor of Dudley is calling on members of the public to nominate the people who go above and beyond for their community, so that they can be recognised at a special event.

The Mayor’s Ball and Civic Awards, which brings people and businesses together for an evening of celebration, will take place at the Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill on Friday 25 April.

During the evening, the winners of the 22nd annual Mayor Civic Awards will be announced.

There are six categories that people or organisations can be nominated for:

  • Thomas Attwood award for education
  • Frank Foley award for community spirit
  • Duncan Edwards award for sport
  • Cedrick Hardwick award for arts
  • William Shenstone award for environment
  • Mike Holder award for business

The public have until Sunday 16 March to nominate individuals and groups who go above and beyond in their communities for the awards, which are this year in association with Jewson Partnership Solutions.

All money raised during the evening will go to councillor Bill’s Mayoral appeal fund in aid of Access in Dudley, Diabetes UK and Friends of Dudley Performing Arts.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring people from our communities and local businesses together and I urge residents to consider their friends, family members and colleagues, and to put forward the remarkable people who make this borough what it is.”

The event will a drinks reception at 6.45pm followed by dinner at 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased from mayorofdudley.org.uk.
