Thousands of people enjoyed the borough's tribute to members of the armed forces at today's Armed Forces Day celebrations at Himley Hall.
The free event, organised by Dudley Council in association with Jewson Partnership Solutions, took place on Sunday 28 June from 11am to 4pm in the grounds of the historic Himley Hall.
Visitors enjoyed a wide range of entertainment and attractions throughout the day, including a vintage military vehicle display, fairground rides and Punch and Judy shows.
In the park, there was a vintage and craft market, along with a tea tent by Heavenly Baking serving ‘tea for the troops’, while activities such as archery, and a climbing wall will give people the chance to get involved.
There were also be opportunities to meet regular and reserve military units, as well as army, air and sea cadets from across the region, giving visitors an insight into life in the armed forces.
Highlights of the day included a cavalry display and a fly past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flypast by a C-47 Dakota.
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Pete Lowe who presided over the formal element of the event, said: “It was a privilege to see so many people come together at Himley Hall to show their support for our armed forces community.
"The Black Country has always been shaped by strength, resilience and a deep sense of pride, and today’s event truly reflected that spirit. It’s a powerful reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of those who serve, past and present.
"On behalf of the borough, I would like to thank everyone who helped make the day such a success and to all our service personnel and their families, we are truly grateful.”
