Councils secure government funding to help victims of domestic abuse

Dudley and Sandwell Councils are among two local authorities to receive a share of £639,000 of government funding for a region wide project to help victims of domestic abuse.

The money will be used to provide more refuge spaces for women and children, and improve services for victims.

The share of the pledged £20 million for services across the UK, comes after Solihull Council led a bid on behalf of seven West Midlands local authorities.

Other councils to benefit include Walsall, Birmingham and Wolverhampton, as well as Women's Aid groups across Birmingham and the Black Country.
