The main entrance at Mary Stevens Park will be closed on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 May while improvement work continues.
The gates themselves have already been subject to restoration work and granite steps have been laid. This additional, weather dependent work, will see resin-bound gravel laid at the entrance to make the surfaces more attractive and hard wearing.
The park will still be open as normal to the public, however parking will be limited to Stanley Road so visitors are recommended to public transport and to walk.
In the week following this work, the same gravel solution will be laid around the additional pedestrian entrances in a phased programme from Monday 9 to Friday 13 May.
Dudley Council was successful in bidding for a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £2.6million, which has funded important restoration and development work, including the restoration of the park gates, railings and war memorial as well as improvements to sporting facilities, the tea gardens, heath pool and funded a new tea room for park users.
