Cllr Pete Lowe has been elected leader of the Labour Group on Dudley Council after Cllr Qadar Zada stepped down last month
Cllr Lowe, who was first elected in 2006, was leader of the group until 2018 when he stepped down to focus on family commitments.
He remained in post as a ward councillor for Lye and Stourbridge North. Cllr Lowe said:
“It’s a pleasure to be elected as leader of Dudley Labour Group. I intend to take a united Labour party into the 2024 [local government] elections where we will focus on the adverse impact of Tory cuts.
“I so look forward to working with all of our local groups to ensure Dudley is proudly put on the map with a positive vision for local people.”
Cllr Lowe’s re-election comes as former leader, Cllr Zada stepped down in August to focus on other commitments.
