Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian has died following a hit-and-run collision in Walsall yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called to Cavendish Road, Beechdale, just after 1pm and found a woman with serious injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services the 52-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A grey Peugeot 206, which is believed to have been involved in the collision, has been recovered in nearby Gurney Road. It is now undergoing forensic examination as officers’ hunt for the driver.
Officers are keen to hear from any witnesses and particularly anyone with dash cam footage which could assist the investigation. Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
"We are in the very early stages of our enquiries and our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this tragic time.
"The hunt to identify the driver is already well underway and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, and may have seen or heard anything, to get in touch as soon as possible."
Anyone with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit by email or by using Live Chat via WMP Online (between 8am and midnight), quoting log number 1191 of 12 September.
