Third From The Right Productions presents the regional amateur premiere of the dark comic musical, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
More Information (Black Country Radio is not responsible for external websites)
Following their smash hit production of Calendar Girls and the regional premiere productions of Shout!, Disenchanted!, Soho Cinders and Tommy; in 2024 Third From The Right Productions bring to Halesowen Town Hall, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, the dark comic musical that puts the ‘mad’ in Madrid.
With music and lyrics by David Yazbek (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Full Monty). Book by Jeffrey Lane (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and based on Pedro Almodóvar's 1988 Oscar-nominated film of the same name, this madcap musical will delight both fans of the film and newcomers to this raucous tale.
Women On The Verge is a story about women and the men who pursue them... finding them, losing them, needing them, and rejecting them. At the centre is Pepa whose friends and lovers are blazing a trail through 1980s Madrid. Along with Pepa, there's her missing (possibly philandering) lover, Ivan; his ex-wife of questionable sanity, Lucia; their son Carlos; Pepa's friend, Candela, and her terrorist boyfriend; a power-suited lawyer, and a taxi driver who dispenses tissues, mints and advice in equal proportion. Mayhem and comic madness abound, balanced by the empathy and heart that are trademarks of Almodóvar's work.
Suitable for ages 12+
