Wedding open day at Priory Hall

Couples planning to tie the knot can find out about getting married at Priory Hall at an open day next month.

Dudley Registrars are holding the wedding show bonanza on Saturday 2 March which will include the chance to take a look around the Grade-II listed hall and a bridal fashion show with gowns available from ‘I do 2 Bridal Boutique’ in Stourbridge.

Visitors can also attend a demonstration ‘sand ceremony,’ a new service offered by the service where the happy couple pour different coloured sand into a frame to create a keepsake to symbolise the merging of two individuals into a blended pair. Children of the couple can also take part in the ritual, showing the coming together of families.

Last year more than 400 people attended the event, which provides the perfect chance to view the grade II-listed venue and its surroundings in Priory Park. The park features the old Priory ruins and is overlooked by Dudley Castle.

This year’s Dudley event will also include a free prize draw, worth £390 for anyone attending the event to win a Priory Suite wedding at Priory Hall. Councillor Judy Foster, cabinet member responsible for register offices, said:

"This event attracts many local businesses and hundreds of couples who are planning their wedding every year. All of the businesses attending are from across the borough, we’ve a car hire firm from Dudley, wedding photographers from Lower Gornal and central Dudley and even a lucky chimney sweep service from Stourbridge!

"Promoting local businesses is part of our pledge to ‘buy local’ and keep the Dudley pound in Dudley. This event allows us to promote and support local businesses while also helping couples to choose the right services to make their special day extra special.”

The open day will run from 10am to 4pm. For more information call 01384 815373.
