Police appeal for information on missing Stourbridge man’s mobile phone

Police are appealing for urgent information into the disappearance of Matthew Gill from Stourbridge.

Matthew was last seen at around 9am on Friday 6th October and, despite many calls from members of the public, there have been no confirmed sightings of Matthew since that day.

Officers are now appealing for information regarding Matthew’s mobile phone which was switched on last Thursday (19th October) during the early evening.

It was switched on somewhere in the Stourton area of Staffordshire and was left on for several hours. No calls were made or received and there's no way of knowing if Matthew, or someone who found the phone, was responsible for turning it on.

Significant searches have since been carried out in woodland, canals and rivers in the Stourton area but nothing has been found to date. Detective Sergeant Andy Padmore, from the force’s Locate team, said:

“The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini with a distinctive Rocky Balboa phone cover and I’m appealing to anyone who has any information about it to contact me or my team as a matter of urgency.

“Let me be clear, whoever has it is not in any trouble, we just need to understand more about how and where you got it from.

“Matthew has been missing nearly three weeks and we are really concerned as there has still been no contact with his family and friends and this is completely out of character for him. I need to speak to anyone with any information about his phone.”

Matthew is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build and would have had short cropped hair when he went missing. It’s believed he was wearing a blue Superdry t-shirt as shown in the photograph above.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Locate team on 01902 649 150 or the Missing Persons charity on 116 000.
