Man fights for life after cardiac arrest in car

A man was fighting for his life after suffering a cardiac arrest in a car in Halesowen.

Emergency services raced to the scene at the junction of Spies Lane and Shenstone Valley Road just after 10am yesterday morning.

Police closed the road and redirected traffic whils the man, who was a passenger in a car was given advanced life support. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where he was in a critical condition on arrival. A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance said:

"We were called to reports of a patient in cardiac arrest in a car at the junction of Spies Lane and Shenstone Valley Road, near Quinton at 10.07am this morning.

"Two ambulances, two critical care paramedics and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"The man, a passenger in a car, was given advanced life support by the team of medics before being conveyed on alert to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where his condition, on arrival, was critical."
