Dudley Leisure Centre closes its doors for the final time

Dudley Leisure Centre opened its doors for the final time yesterday ahead of an exciting, brand new £18 million state-of-the-art site opening across the town centre.

The centre in Wellington Road closed to the public for good at 9.30pm on January 16. Just over a week later the new Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre on Constitution Hill opens its doors from Monday January 24. Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said:

"We are excited to be opening a brand new state-of-the-art facility in Dudley. Residents living near to the existing leisure centre have been reassured the site will have 24-hour security onsite while it is being decommissioned.

"More information and updates about any development on the Wellington Road site will be communicated to residents when available."

The new Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre includes a 25 metre, 8-lane swimming pool and a teaching pool with spectator provision. Also on site is a sauna, gym, immersive spin studio, four court sports hall, wellness suite and two large fitness studios offering group exercise programmes, including Les Mills and much more.

For families with younger children there is a soft play area with catering facilities and a party room. A café is also open to all users of the centre.
